Today's our final day to make ammendments to our documentary. Yesterday both Ms Brown, and Ms Taylor viewed our documentary and suggested changes to improve it. These changes include:
*Correcting spelling mistakes
*Changing certain slides (e.g the times)
*Adding titles (e.g Part 4)

We plan to make these corrections today in the lesson.

Where WE Are

After M.M & R.S finished the Sean's voiceover in Mr Beckets office, we did some more editing, and had our 1st screening the next lesson, (results shown underneath). After recieving audience feedback the group focused on making appropriate ammendments to our documentary. We're focussing on cutting some of Miss Birbalsingh interview and replacing it with a voiceover, as there was too much footage on her hands. Y.M & D.A gathered appropriate information, which we could use as slides through Miss Birbalsigh voice over, whilst M.M & R.S cut out inappropriate footage (to save time) and tried to decide what parts of the interview to use and not to use. We should be finished in time.

Audience Screening

The Real deal

We had 20 viewers from AS media class give us responses on our documentary first draft by answering a questionnaire. Our sample was very diverse. This included different ethnicity's both boys and girls this will give us reliable results.
Below are summaries of their responses for each question.

Q1What did you like? What was effective?

Their where several factors which the audience found effective. Many responses said that we chose a good range of interviews such has older teenagers and adults. The audience liked the camera and the clarity of shots e.g. different angles .Some people said that the interviews where very clear and straight to the point. The music was well suited for the moving images. They felt it explored different point of views , from the the teenage perspective .The interviews got right to the point .The editing such has cutaways came together well and looked very professional the special effects e.g. the fast slow reverse .Some viewer liked the topic choice they found it interesting and thought the approach was original.

Q2 What would you change? How could the Documentary be better?

The audience suggested using different locations which can improve the documentary. The majority of viewer said that there where too much close up shots on Miss Birbalsingh hands whcih was unnecessary. Therefore will have deiced to add several cutaways and use some of miss interview has a voice over different moving images instead of moving image of her interview in order to take the focus of those close up shots.
Viewers couldn't hear and at certain points in interviews because the music was to loud therefore will will implement the music balance better by adjusting the sound on the time line.Other suggestions where other point of views from the police .This was our original ideal however this wasn't possible. The audience also suggest looking at other ethnic groups. Some responses said that quotes where not readable this is partly to do with a technical problem however we will try to extent the duration.

Q3 Who is the target audience?

The majority of viewers that the target audience should range for 12-20 .Teenagers and young adults.People who discriminate against black boys.

Q4 On which channel would you expect to see this documentary? Why?

14 viewer out of 20 claimed that our documentary will be suitable for channel 4 because they often have documentaries based on theses issues such has young people.
Other possibilities the audience suggested :Channel 5, BBC1, BBC2 ,MTV base, Sky 1,BBC3.

Miss Birbalsingh

R.S, M.M and D.A filmed Miss Birbalsingh on the 15th January but we came back with lots of good shots but with no sound, due to the fact we did not do a microphone check before we filmed. Aftere we realised there was no power left in the battery. R.S and D.A re filmed Miss Birbalsingh on the 18th January and we checked that there was a full battery in the microphone and did a microhone check before we filmed the interview. R.S and D.A also fimed some of the voiceover with Sean Thompson on the 18th January aswell.

Filming

We were able to go to Croydon to do our vox pops. Eventhough we wanted to show a diverse rang of people, regarding their age, ethnicity and gender; the majority of people who were willing to be fimed were black males; which may seem biased.
